British Dead
THE LOSS IN WEDNESDAY’S BATTLE. (Received 10.0 a.m.)
London, August 30,
It is officially announced that the British were in a desperate battle against tremendous odds on Wednesday from which they extracted themselves in good order, their losses being six thousand. They have since been reinforced. AT MONS THE ODDS WERE 8 TO 1 (Received 10.15 a.m.) London, August 30. A wounded gunner at Southampton, who was in action for seventy-three hours, describes a bayonet charge at Mons, where the British killed wore 250. Throughout the battle there seemed e’ght Gormans to every Britisher. The British captured a German gun at Donnicourt.
