NO JAPANESE FLEET TO CO TO THE ADRIATIC. (Received 8.55 a.m.) Washington, August 28. The Japanese Ambassador officially denies that Japan intends to send a fleet to the Adriatic.
JAPAN’S OPERATIONS AND HER POLICY OF SILENCE.
London, August 28
.Japan is pursuing her policy of silence adopted in the 1904 war. Nothing regarding the operations at Kiao-Chao has been permitted to leak out. It is believede that only investing operations are being carried out at present.
The newspapers at Rome credit the possibility of the Japanese fleet being used in the Adriatic. CHAUVINISM CONDEMNED BY THE AUTHORITIES. AVOID OVER-CONFIDENCE. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Tokio, August 28. Since the declaration of war, there has been the usual evidences of Chauvinism, hut the Government and leading publicists are urging the desirability of avoiding over-confidence, and the tendency to treat war with a powerful enemy lightly is condemned.
