WHEAT IN THE UNITED KINGDOM [By Eleotbio Telkubaph—Coptbjqht;) [United Pkess Association.] (Received 10. a.m.) London, August 24 (evening). Wheat is very firm, and 46s is being asked for South Australian cargoes afloat.
MR NEWTON KING'S HAYMARKET REPORT. For my Haymarket sale on Saturday last, I had a full yarding pi- pigs, calves, etc. There was a good enquiry for all classes of pigs, and prices wore, if anything, firmer than my last sale. I quote:—Slips and weanors from lis 6d to £1 6s 6d. Tho latter price was for a pen of 8-week-old weaners bred by Mr J. Thomas, of Ngaere. Small stores £1 9s, medium to good from £1 10s to £1 19s, light porkers £2 2s 6d, pedigree boar £2 2s, empty sows £1 Bs, sows to farrow early £3, calves Is to lis. Poultry: A full entry of all classes came to hand, and were sold as follOWs:—Geese 4s 9d to 5s 3d, turkeys 4s to 6s 6d, roosters 2s 6d, hens Is 9d, ducks 2s 9d.
