THE CAMP AT PALMERSTON.
[PIII Pbmb ABBOOIAOTON.] Palmerston N., August 26. There is little alteration in the number at the concentration camp. Work is proceeding steadily. The rumor that the men will march to Wellington for embarkation is denied, as also are the rumors that a. number have been, weeded out because they were physically unfit. Only those under age are being sent away from the camp. The artillery are engaged choosing gun teams. 1 A military funeral was accorded Wynn West, a member of the battery who died from pneumonia contracted on the first night in camp. WEST COAST SYMPATHY. Reef ton, August The Empire Defence Committee wired £3OO to the Government as at Contribution from this district besides the other contributions forwarded, making £360. The committee decided to vote £16*15, the relief of Belgian distress, and asked the Premier to forward it as a slight mark of sympathy.
