SPORTING.
In consequence of the statement published in the New Zealand paper to the effect that the horse Merrimax could not fulfil liis engagements in Australia because ho was not regist J ered thirty days before' nomination, the secretary of the A.J.O. writes to the Press Association that this is misconcerting. He has received several letters and cables from New Zealand about it, and asks the Association to say that by resolution of his Club, horses entered from outside the Commonwealth for the A.J.C. meetings are exempt from registration.
