WOUNDED BRITISH OFFICERS.’

The Press Bureau states that Earl Leven has been 1 dangerously wounded, and Sorgt-Major D. S. Williams and Aviator-Captain C. S. Akerman have been wounded. Ronald Rufchven Leslie-Melvillo,' D.L., P.C.,is the eleventh Earl of thb line which was created m'1641. The' first Baron Melville was Ambassador to England to plead for the life of Queen Maryo f Scots, 1587; the first Earl of Mary of Scots, 158'7 ;’ the, first Earl of diar, serving* hr' ISotland find" becoming a field-marshal of Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden; he took part in the Civil War, and contributed to the Parliamentary Victory 'at Marston Moor, 1614; but afterwards worked for the Restoration'; '2nd'Earl MfilVille mheritcd as 3rd Earl Leven. The present Earl Leven was keeper of the Prify Seal, Scotland, since 1900. Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland; Representative Peer for" Scotland since 1892; Lieutenant for City of London ; head of bahkin ghouse of Melville, Evans, and Co.' He was'born December 19, 1835.
