FALL TO THE GERMANS. The High Commissioner reports:— London, August 24th, 4.4.0 p.m.. (Received Wellington 25th, 8.40 a.m.) The Germans have taken Namur.

Wellington, August 25
The High Commissioner reports under date London, 24th August, 4 p.m.:—Official: The .British forces were engaged all Sunday and during the night in the neighborhood of Mons. They held their ground.
The Germans have taken the first of line defence at Namur, necessitating the withdrawal of portion of the Allied forces from the Sambre to the original- defensive position «h the French frontier.
