I SATURDAY'S REP. MATCH. Canterbury defeated Wanganui at Wanganui by 8 to nil. Wellington at Wellington defeated Southland by 34 points to nil. Wellington, at Auckland, the northerners won by 10 points to 0.
AUCKLAND 13 V. TARANAKI 8. About 7000 people witnessed this fixture at Auckland on Saturday. Taranaki, on account of their hard match on Thursday, ware very sluggish in their movements, and the Auckland scoro of 13 was rattled up before the visitors got going. With a quarter of an hour to go, Aucklanders expected to see a walk over regarding scores, but Taranaki ralil«d and piled on their eight points, which number might have been augmented had they rallied a little sooner. The game was strenuous, and was noted for its number of minor "layouts," although two Auckland men had to retire, but this was due in no small degree to the hard nature of the turf. Auckland backs showed superiority in their handling of the ball in the attack, being very clean and smart, Taranaki methods appearing "weary" in comparison. Auckland scores were registered by A. Stewart, 0. Stewart and Macky, Weston and Stewart goaling. Stohr intercepted a pass, and beat two men, and when blocked by the full-back, passed to Roberts, who beat another two and scored, converting his own try. Stohr 'added three as the result of a freekick.
