(Received 8 a.m.) London, August 22, The Germans, in taking over the Cockeril ammunition factory at Liege, guaranteed the Belgian employees a fifty per cent, increase in wages and handsome bonuses for their loyalty, but not a single worker responded. Brussels is completely isolated. The [burgomaster in a prclamation urged :the citizens to give no guidance regarding the movements of the Belgian Army, and pointed out that the laws of warfare forbid the Germans using force to obtain such information.
The Times' military correspondent writes: "The entry of the Germans rhto Brussels will make a great clatter in the German press, but we can afford to remain completely indifferent. There is no glory in entering the un» defended capital of the enemy's country. Napoleon on such an occasion sarcastically wrote at Mui at-(France): "We can post that little bulletin 1 on to Berlin."
