THE NATIONAL RESERVE.
We are asked to specially direct attention to the fact that the National Reserves for Home Defence is a movement of a purely voluntary nature which is intended, as indicated by its title? for Homo Defence only, in case of grave emergency. Those who feel they are doing their duty by enrolling must bear in mind that the control of their particular Company will be entirely in their own hands. They will arrange for the appointment of their officers, and they will decide upon such training and musketry practice as may be deemed necessary to make themselves reasonably efficient. There is no reason whatever why all those who are physically fit between the ages of twenty-four and fifty years should not elnxJV ffi this force. In nearly every local centre enrolment is now proceeding. As before stated. Captain Reeve, at the Coiui'housp in Strut lord; will
be glad to give any further inform- j ation and to enrol applicants, as will, also Messrs J. Masters, C. D. Sole, J, McCluggage, and the Editor of the! “Stratford Post,” as Justices of the Peace. As soon as a reasonably sufflcient number have enrolled a meeting will be called by Captain Peeve for, the purpose of electing officers and arranging for such drills as may be desmI«d advisable.
