At Christchurch to-day, states the Press' Association, Thomas Maude, solicitor, charged with the fraudulent conversion of £IOOO of trust funds, pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial, bail being allowed in i £IOO self and two sureties of £IOOO each. An Auckland Press Association telegram says: Gladys Mclhtosh, a young daughter of a quarryman residing at Arch Hill, died in the hospital from burns on the face as the result of' a fire 1 caused by playing with matches.
