The Australasian amateur boxing championship meeting, fixed for thft end of August, has been indefinitely postponed, owing to the war. RIFLE SHOOTING. [Pkb Press Association. J Wellintgon, August 20. Colonel Collins, chief executive officer of the Dominion Rifle Association, lias been advised by cable from the secretary of the Commonwealth Council of Rifle Associations of Australia that alh Rifle Association prize meetings throughout Australia have been postponed indefinitely. The British rifle team's visit has been abandoned, and the Empire match will not be held in Melbourne this year. Instructions issued for the visit of the New Zealand rifle team in Australia are there : fore cancelled. HOCKEY. ENGLISH LADIES' DEFEAT WANGANUI. Wanganui, August 20. The touring hockey team of English ladies met the local team this afternoon. Wanganui was outclassed at every point of the game, and beaten hy nine goals to one. Goals were scored for the visitors by Misses Fames (3), Gaskell (1), Elwell (1), B. Take (1), and Teacroft (3), and for Wanganui by Miss Ivy Perrett.
.At New Plymouth, yesterday, the Stratford District High School girls defeated Technical College by five c;oals to one.
