Tho Press Bureau states that the Ampliiou was warned of tho Konigi.i Luise’s presence by vn. «lcrs, who stated that they saw a steamer dropping r ti.-mgs overboard. When the A-nphioa si; ask the mine, the flames enveloped the bridge, and Captain Fox became unconsicous. The engines went ahead until Fox recovered and ran down and stopped them. The forepart was a flame, and it was impossible to reach the bridge or hood the fore magazine. The ship’s back was apparently broken. The wounded were first placed in safety. The crew throughout fell in steadily, and the snip was abandoned twjgnty minutes after the explosion. A second explo-
• ion. followed, apparently from a second mine. Debris from a great height :,.ruck the rescue beats and destroyers. A shell burst on the deck of the destroyer, killing two of the crew and one German from the -Koningin Luise. Tiio Amphion’s crew obeyed all orders without confusion.
