OFFERS ON THE PACIFIC COAST FOR SERVICE ABROAD. Tokio, August 19. Japanese on the Pacific Coast have offered to raise several companies for service abroad. OPERATIONS LIMITED TO HER OWN INTERESTS. GERMAN INFLUENCE IN CHINA MUST BE ELIMINATED. (Received 8.0 a.m.) London, August 19.
Count Okuma states that Japan’s warlike operations do not extend beyond the limits necessary for the defence of her own legitimate interests. She had not taken action to give a third party uneasiness. It was Japan’s intention to eliminate room for German influence in China.
