TWENTY MILLION MEN CAN BEAR ARMS. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, August 19. It is estimated that Russia is able to raise twenty million men capable of hearing arms. GERMAN ADVANCE CHECKED. St. Petersburg, August 19. It is officially stated that the Russian vanguard occupied five points in the enemy’s territory, and the enemy’s forward movements have been stopped since the 14th inst. All encounters resulted in favor of the Russians. Several hundred Germans have been taken prisoners. RUSSIANS DESTROY AEROPLANE St. Petersburg, August 18. Russians destroyed a German aeroplane at Samxns, on the Finnish coast. Throe aviators were killed.
A SOLEMN ACT OF WORSHIP.
St. Petersburg, August 19. The Czar took part in a great procession at the Cathedral of the Assumption at the Kremlin at 'Moscow, where a solemn act of worship was held, having historical significance in the Russian army’s work. (The Kremlin is the citadel of Moscow, the most sacred spot in the vast Russian Empire. The Cathedral of the Assumption is the most notable of the religious buildings within this enclosure).

It is officially reported that a division of Austrian cavalry, two battalions of infantry, and two batteries of artillery attacked Vladimir-Volhynsk on Sunday. They were repelled with heavy loss.
A division of German infantry with thirty-six guns was expelled at Eydtkuhnen.
(Vladimir-Volhynsk, in the Province of .Vofhjnia, is situated near tho frontiers of Russia proper, Poland, and Galicia. Has a population of 9854.)
