Telegrams from Basle report fresh fighting between Belfort and Altkirch.

The Rough Riders Corps for recruiting includes several American cowboys, a number of jockeys, and many Englishmen. The squadron will be entirely self-supporting, and will be armed with carbines, sabres, and auto* matic pistols. The Government is twice daily sending wireless war news in German, French, aiid English from the Eiffel Tower.

Gruault, the Frenchman, was courtmartialled and sentenced to death for offering the Cologne Gazette details of the wireless station at the Eiffel Tower and of the aerodrome at Issylestoiilineaux. If the sentence is carried out, he will be the first spy executed in France, though wild rumours state that 1573 have already beeu shot. The advance was especially rapid in the Scl.iimeck valley, where the’French made 1000 prisoners in addition to the 500 captured on the previous day. They captured several heavy guns and field pieces at St. Marie and 19 transport waggons at Blamont.

ALSATIAN TRAIN-DRIVER EFFECTS A SCOOP OF UHLANS.

A train driven by an Alsatian, transporting 700 Uhlans to the frontier, instead of stopping where it should, detrained the Germans across the frontier and drew up at a station occupied by French troops. The whole of the Uhlans were captured.
