It is reported that four British battleships chased the Austrian cruisers Auro and Soziertjar which wore blockading Antivari. The Austrians took refuge at Pola, towards the Gulf of Venice. NO CONFIRMATION OF THE RUMOR. IS IT ANOTHER FAIRY TALE? (Received 8.50 a.m.) London, August 17.
Ihe Press Bureau says that the French Mediterranean fleet swept the Adriatic clear to Cattaro and sunk a 2400-ton Austrian cruiser. ,The Press Bureau, however, later states that there is no confirmation of the news of a naval battle in the Adriatic, and is inclined to discredit the report.
TWO WARSHIPS SUNK AND ONE BURNT.

It is semi-officially reported that the French on Sunday sank two Austrian warships at Budua, ignited a third; and a fourth fled to Cattaro.
