Details of yesterday’s battle show that 5000 Germans were engaged with the Belgihn Lahcers, Carbineers, and artillery.. The fighting lasted throughout the ~say, the battle centre being Haelen. Belgian sappers blew up two bridges at Demers. By the evening the ground between Niest and Haelen was cleared of Germans and covered with dead and wounded.
