RUGBY FOOTBALL. At Inglewood yesterday Stratford and Tukapa played off for the first junior championship, but a draw (six points all) resulted,and another game will bo necessary. Each side scored an unconverted try and a penalty goal, Stratford met the reps, of the Eastern Sub-Union at Victoria Park yesterday, winning, by 14 points to nil. The Eastern men played excellent football, but lacked combination. Mr C. Jackson refereed. The first representative match to bo played in Stratford this season will take place next Thursday when Wairarapa will try to wrest (lie coveted shield from Taranaki. Excursion fares are advertised, hut the great convenience will be the stopping of both trains at the showground.. THE LEAGUE CAME. [Pmb.Prrss Association. 1 Wanganui, August 0. At League football to-day, Hawke’s Bay beat Wunganni by 21 to 15.
