In a trial on the grass Chortle did a mile in I Imin 44 2-ssec, finishing nicely. Multiply heat Stevedore over a mile in Imin 146 2-ssec. Player was bettor than Gazette over six furlongs in Imin 20 sec. Raupaui defeated Haskayno by three lengths over seven furlongs, the |latter’s time being Imin 34sec. Sveaberg beat Mummer over six furlongs 'in Imin 18]sec. Manitau and Ruajtangata went together. The former i made the pace on the flat, but Jus | fencing was poor. Kimbombi beat Thrax over four furlongs in 49 4-ssec. Crown Pearl did five furlongs in Imin 4 2-ssec. Morecambe beat Idealism over a mile in Imin 50sec. Tim Doolan, Silver Blaze, Cousin Jack anil Tolstoi gave good exhibitions of jumping. They went once round the fences. I Tim Doolan continued over a second circuit alone and gave an > excellent jdisplay. Cheddar easily beat Iliad’s • Hero over five furlongs in Imin 3 4-5 see. Troon beat Banian over seven : furlongs in Imin 35 l-ssec. Gnome I beat Mumura over six furlongs in |lmin 21 see. Silver Shield and Fabrikoff galloped a mile, the last seven furlongs in Imin 35 l-ssec. Stockade pleased more than Admiral Soult over five hurdles. Conic and Royal Arms jumped live hurdles creditably. The Spaniard and Pahtntu went once round the fences and both jumped well. They appeared to pull up suddenly.’ Bercola was better than Sunrose once round the fences. Fond Memory, who started with them, gave a wretched display.
