CARNIVAL QUEEN CONTEST

The friendly societies are holding a social in the-.Foresters’ Hall this evening in aid of their candidate, Miss A. Crania}', .(Red, White,, and Blue), fo-nun'row evening.a euchre party will be held. . In Broadway on Saturday there’was on exhibition a large p.hj’ce of coal in respect of which a guessing competition was held in. favor of ,the candidature of Miss Minnie Hignett (Red and Black), the,sports candidate. Good business, was done,,, and the,.guesses of tlie weight ranged from 1211 b. to 22101 b. The actual weight was 672 lb., and the nearest guess was 664Hh, handed in by Mr J.Sangster. A concert and -da.nco .is~ to- be held in Mr Johnson’s barn, Kahouri Bridge, on Wednesday, evening on behalf of Miss, McCullo.ugh,,''’(Country Girl). This should prove' to be an interesting game, .as. the Mast,ern .reps, contain several budding players and can ,be ... depended on to put up a good display.., Mrs .Miscall is to give a euchre party, with coffee and salad supper, at the, ire station to-night in aid of the, candidature of Mrs Smith (Royal Blue and White). A general meeting of supporters will take place’ .dance, starting at 7.J0 sharp. To-morrow evening the weekly dance will he held in the Fire Station.
