THE MEAT TRUST.

Mr Hughes, in a letter to the press, referring to the Beef Trus, says:— “Here is the greatest and most powerful corporation in the world in onr midst. Besides a capital of £200,000, the company is composed by the Swift family and is financed by the Swift Company to the extent of £500,000. Evidence shows that already they are one of the chief exporters of moat, and a very little time will elapse before they will he the,chief and only exporter from Australia. They will so control the local market that as they fix the price of stock and meat for local consumption the price of stock will decrease and the price of meat will increase. Stock raisers and the public will pay the toll of this great trust and will be powerless in its grip.
