THE NEWCASTLE MURDER.
ETHEL HOUGHTON’S DEATH. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] [Received 9.35 a.m.) Brisbane, July 28. All inquiries respecting the death of Ethel Houghton failed to elucidate the mystery. Deceased left home to meet a young man. Ho said he waited for her for an hour and was able to satisfy the police of his movements.
A cablegram! ' yesterday read:— The body of Ethel May Houghton, aged twenty-two years of age, was found on a road outside the show grounds at Broadmeadow, Newcastle. The head was almost severed from the body. The blood-stained razor was near by and indications of a struggle lead the police to suspect a case of murder.
