CARNIVAL QUEEN CONTEST

-{Last night in the- Foresters' Hall, on behalf of Miss Hart's candidature, a pleasant little dance was held. Thorough and complete were the arrangements of the committee, and the whole evening was very enjoyable. The music was, given by Miss Robson, Mrs McNe l ely, ' Miss W. Fitzgerald, ' Miss Tocker (piano), Mr Parker (cornet), and Mr Cameron (violin), who deserve the committee's best thanks. The Sports candidate, Miss M. Hignett, was present. Mr a capable M.C. ,

This evening "Professor Blooanwhite" will .continue his exhibition of simultaneous draughts' playing against all-comers next to Taranaki Hardware, and from all accounts there is going to be keen competition for the halfsovereigns which will be presented to everyone who succeeds in winning a game from the Professor.
