TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held yesterday, when there were present:—Messrs G. H. Bullard (Commissioner of Crown Lands), in the chair, Ryan and Coxhead. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. W. Higgins, A. R. Stevens and J. H. Higgins. 0.R.P.., section 2, block 15, Mahoe.—Approved. C. E. Thurston and L. S. Carter," 0.R.P., section 1, block 10, Mahoe.— Approved. Applications were received from actjoining settlers for section 84, block 10, Pouatu, and it was agreed to grant Mr Lay ground for a homestead sice and the rest of the section to Mr Brown. , •> .. 1). and M. E. Shepherd, lessees ct section 0, block 11, Ana, 290 acres, applied for a portion of section 4, adjoining, x ih order to get a good fencing line.—Left to the Commissioner. A. Shivnan, lesseq of section 24, block 11, Mapara, applied for a portion of township reserve adjoining, to improve the fencing boundary.—Approved. TRANSFERS. Section 2, block 15, Omona, 1256 acres, from D. and F. J. Grantham (lessees) to John Richards.—Refused, on the ground of an area limit. Section 9, block 3, Ohura, 709 acres, Thos..Agang to C. E. Wheeler and W. H. Fife.—Approved. Education section 65, Manganui district. W. Milne to W. J. Croasdale. —Approved. Section 35, block 15, Ngaero, 153 acres 3 roods 27 perches, S. H. and S. A. Jenkins to L. C. Hitchcock (deferred from June meeting).—Approved. Section /5, block 12, Upper Waitara, M. L. Gaustad to C. A. Saward (transfer refused at last meeting on the grounds of aggregation), was reconsidered and approved, owing to the roughness of the country. ' Section 5, block 5, Mahoe, 492 acres, T. Garlick to R. M. Lange.—Approved. Section 12, block 2, Haeo, 328 acres, P. E. Thompson to A. W. Thomson.— Refused. Six months was given in which to find another transferee. ' Section 1 and 2, block 4, Omona, 400 acres, f Henry to J. E.'Young.— Approved. Seciioij 2, block 11, Omona, 97.'5 acres] S. H. ami S. A. Jenkins to S. H. Jenkins, —Approved. Scott.—Deferred for further consideration. Section il, block 6, Tangitu, 523 acres, P. M. Bleasel to W. G. Brown (half interest).-Approved. Education section 4a, block 1, Ngaeio, 99 acres, A. Hazelton tu !'., J. McFarlane and 11. H. Rogers,—Approved. Sections 1 and 17, block 14, Upper Waitara, 200 acres, A. Middlemisa to S. .1. Kennington, who holds 701 acres adjoining.—Refused. The following sub-leases were approved : Education section 14, block 12, Ngaero, 166 acres, from S. f\ ami H. Coleman to Newberry, Lee --r.-.d Leo for iiyur years and ton months.
Sections 14 and 43, block 6, Ngatimaru, 289 acres 2 roods 23 perches, from J. Stockley to F. and F. L. Taylor, for three years. FREEHOLD. Applications for freehold were approved as follows : , G. S. Hobbs, section 2, block 10, Omona. , Issue of title to, R. Anderson for section 17, block 1, Tangitu, was approved. SURRENDERS. J Surrenders were accepted from J. W. Sewell, section 11, block 11, Mahoe, 872 acres, and M. O'Connor and E. O'Rejlly, section 5, block 11, Mahoe. ,THE RESIDENCE QUESTION Action re H. Ryan, who ,has nut fulfilled the residence .conditions with regard to section 13, block 8, Ohura, was deferred, providing residence is satisfactory in future. S. H. J. Brown, section 15, block ,1, Ohura, 130 acres 2 roods 5 perches, applied for exemption from residonco. —Refused. Applicant was given six months, in which to find a suitable transferee. The ranger reported \iu*t E. A. Guildford was not rcvU/ing on section 2, block 12, Mapara.—Action will be taken. P. MoKeu/ - '", section 2, block 13, Ohm ~ v->s granted six months' ,exempti::. from residence, his house having been binned down. GEYICIiAL. S. H. Barn'tt was granted year-to-year lease (4 section 22, block 1. Aria, 7 aoios 2 roods 12 perches. Dr. IT. E. Howard wrote re nonpayment of liis fees by several settlers in the Tangitu improved farm settlement.—lt was resolved that the Board regretted the circumstances, but had no power to act. On the application of Mr .lames. son of the lessee of section 13, block 8, it was resolved to ■■, recommend that £l2O he diverted from the main road, to he expended on the Kaifieke road, if it could he done. A resolution of appreciation of Mr Twiss' services as ranger was unanimously passed. A plan of sections in the Auhopac block was laid before the Board, and the prices were approved. I ——— ———>
