A TAX ON CIGARETTES

The Government is preparing a Bill for an Imperial monopoly cf the manufacture of cigarettes to meet the deficiency in the war levy. Manufacturers will he paid 500,000,000 marks, and the monopoly is expected tc yield 120,000,000 marks annually.
