FOOTBALL.
THE BRITISH LEAGUERS. A unique opportunity of seeing the Northern Union Rugby game at its best is presented by the match to be played at Taumata Park, Eltham, tomorrow between the tonring British tealn and the elect of Taranaki. Taranaki has its best team in .the field and a strenuous and brilliant game can be looked for. Trains have been accelerated and delayed for the convenience of visitors to Eltham. ✓ RANFURLY SHIELD MATCH. A good number of Strafford residents will no doubt proceed to New Plymouth to-morrow to see tho interproviucial match between Taranaki and Manawatu. The fact that tho Ranfurly Shield depends on the match will he a guarantee that both teams will use the best football they know, and the convenience of visitors from other parts of tho province has been studied by tho Railway Department, trains both before and after the match being run at handy times.
Owing to the big football mated in New Plymouth to-morrow the lust junior match Stratford v. Clifton will not ho played. A Sydney cablegram states that Cockroft departs for Queensland tonight to join tho New Zealand team.
