A Big Strike.
CONFLICTS WITH POLICE. THE SYMPATHY MOVEMENT. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] St. Petersburg, July 21. A hundred and forty thousand struck owing to the authorities suppressing demonstrations in sympathy with the Baku strikers. Collisions occurred between the police and strikers at Putiloff works and elsewhere. Similar demonstrations occurred at Moscow and elsewhere. REVOLVERS AND STONES. MOSCOW TRAMS SUSPENDED. (Received 9.0 a.m.) St. Petersburg, July 21. There are 100,000 strikers in th* capital. Many conflicts have occurred with the police, eleven of whom were wounded by stones. The police used their revolvers on rioters in the Viborg quarter, who overturned tramcars, and there was much revolver firing and stonethrowing. The Cossacks with two blank volleys dispersed the rioters. The tramwaymen at Moscow liar* struck, and the services have been suspended. There are other, strikes at Rigo, Saratoff, and elsewhere. The situation, generally is the most critical for years.
