CORRESPONDENCE.
MR HARRIS OBJECTS.
[To The Editor Stratford Tost.] Sir, —I was amazed on reading fclio report of the Stratford County Council meeting in your issue of Friday last to see that It. Savage had written to the Council stating that he had no objection to rates on his, Makuri Road property being transferred to the credit of the Stanley Road. Well, if he hasn't any objection, I. have. I have resided on the Makuri Road for many years past and have put up with all the inconvenience of an unnietalled road. Now, when the time is approaching when the settlers on the Makuri Road can reasonably expect the convenience of a metalled road, it is amazing to find a settler suggesting that Makuri Road rates should be transferred to the credit of Stanley Road. The rates arising from properties on the Makuri Road can well be spent on the Makuri Road, especially in view of the recent damage done to this road by persons sledging over it. Why, it would take all £4O to repair this damage alone. It is to be hoped that the Stratford County Council will not, without further deliberation, give effect to the suggestions of R. Savage to the detriment of the other settlers on the Makuri Road.—-1 am. etc., G. A. HARRIS. Stratford, 20th July, 1914.
