"WILL DIE FIGHTING."
DEADLOCK WITH HINDUS AT VANCOUVER. By EutoTßic TriiKObaph—<'opyriohxl [United Press Association.] (Received 11.40 a.m.) Vancouver, July 20. The Duke of Con naught telegraphed to the Hindus aboard the Komagata Mara to preserve peace, as the Government, who were fully cognisant of their claims, would give them every justice, but warning them that the Canadian laws must be observed. The immigration authorities are now awaiting the arrival of the gunboat Rainbow with a special force of bluejackets. The Hindus declare they will fight to a finish.
It is likely, therefore, that a bombardment of the Komagata Maru is the only solution of the extraordinary deadlock that has arisen . Gurdit Singh asserted that the Hindus would all die fighting rather than leave. POSSIBILITY OF ANTI-ASIATIC DISTURBANCES/ EXCITEMENT IN BRITISH COLUMBIA. (Received 12.50 p.m.) Vancouver, July 20. The Japanese Government has advised its Vancouver Consul to remove the .Japanese crew from the Komagata. The Hindus arc erecting barricades on the decks and fashioning clubs, and they obviously intend to offer a determined resistance. A contingent of bluejackets from the Niobe has arrived en route to Victoria to join the Rainbow. There is great excitement in British Columbia over th<- possibility of anti-Asiatic disturbances, and the authorities are taking precautions to maintain order.
