Just as the Aerial Grand Prix at the Tuileries was about to start, a gust swept a balloon against a tree. The occupants of the basket fell some fifty feet on to a passing cart. Duval sustained severe injuries to his skull, and Blanchet, a former winner of the Gordon Bennett Cup, was seriously hurt. BLOWN ACROSS THE CHANNEL. (Received 9.5 a.m.) London, July 20. Three balloons competing in the French Aero Club's Grand Prix wore driven across the Channel by a gale and landed on the west coast of Wales, fearing the fall into the Irish Sea.
