CARNIVAL QUEEN CONTEST
Miss Paget and Miss Friday were yesterday afternoon appointed joint secretaries Of the ladies' committee who will work in the interests of the Sports' candidate, Miss Minnie Hignett (Red and Black). Supporter's of the Friendly Societies' candidate will no doubt be present in full force at the euchre party to he held to-morrow evening in the Foresters' Hall. Members of the Egmont Club will meet this evening to decide what candidate they will support. Toj further the interest of the % Fire Brigade candidate, Mrs George-Smith (Royal Blue and White), a dance will be held in the Fire Brigade Station on Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. Cards and cosy corners have been arranged for' non-dancers. Messrs B. Burgess and (.'•. Stewart arc joint senetaries.
