CHINESE Ifi THE PACIFIC. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 9.45 a.m.) Sydney, July 21. The Daily Telegraph, in re-publish-ing from a New Zealand newspaper an account of the- rapidiy-increaiiing Chinese settlement at Tahiti, says that this indicates a development grave and far-reaching in importance. After referring to the flooding of Hawaii with .Japanese, and Fiji witli Hindus, and the danger arising therefrom, the Telegraph says: "It might yet turn out that while the Japs overwhelmed Hawaii, the Chinese had greatly gained predominance in other groups, and a new and formidable Asiatic force had suddenly risen up in the Pacific."
