COMMERCIAL.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile, Agency Company, Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows; On Friday, 10th inst., we held a clearing sale on account of Mr Chas. Taylor, Surrey Road, Tariki. There was a good attendance,and everything offered sold at full market values; Daily cows £l3 5s to £6 15s. The whole herd averaged £8 10s. Store tows £4 15s to £4 2s 6d, weanor heifers 45' to 49s 6d. On account of another client, Berkshire sow £6, cows £7 to £8 15s, mare £lB. On Monday, 13th inst., we held a very successful clearing sale on account of Mr Wm. Walsh, Cheal Road. Ngaere. Notwithstanding that the day was very cold and showery, there was a large attendance of the public, no less than 19 buyers bidding, competition eing very keen. The Cheat Road herd averaged £9 Bs, and the Finnerty Road herd £9. Two year old filly £l7 15s, 2 year old colt £ls, 3 year old colt £22 10s, pony £4. The Cheal Road cows' made, from £l2 15s to £B, 3 teaters £6 10s to £4 2s 6d. The Finnerty Road herd showed more age, hut were cows of good quality, prices being from £l3 5s to £7 15s, 3 teaters £5 2s 6d to £8 15s, heifers in calf rising 2 years old £5, bull £5, weaner heifers 50s. Mr Walsh and otuers. present expressed satisfaction with the way the auctioneers conducted the sale, and with the results thereof. On Tuesday, 14th inst., we hold our fortnightly sale, in our Stratford yards, when we had a moderate yarding. Competition was good, most of the stock being disposed of at the hammer or afterwards at advaneced prices. Store cows made from 64s to 82s 6d. forward cows £4 5s to £4 12s"6d, empty heifers 62s 6d to 82s 6d, in calf heifers 85s to 87s 6d, weaner heifers, showing Holstein strain up to 52s 6d, ordinary sorts 32s 6d to 355, good lines 39s 6d to 465, and a very nice line of Jerseys on account of Mr Frank Keightley were keenly comepted for -t from 52s 6d to 61s. These were a credit to Mr Keightley. Weaner steers 48s to 555.

Since we last reported, we have written a lot of private sales at the following rates Weaner heifers 34s to 41s, mixed weaners 42s fid to 50s, weaner steers 50s to 565, in calf heifers up to £5 12s 6d, lambs up to 16s, owes in lamb 21s, fat wethers up to 245. The inquiry for sheep does not appear so good, but there is an unproved demand for cattle of most varieties.
