A HOOGHLY COLLISION.
STEAMERS EURYALUS AND ORISSA DAMAGED. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press "Association, j (Received 12.2 U p.m.) Calcutta, July 16. The Euryalns, bound for Australia, collided with the Orissa, bound 1m Java, near Acbipur. Both were damaged. The Euryalns dischaiged all her cargo. The river Hooghly in Bengal is loi mcd by the junction of two western branches of the Ganges, and is celebrated for having Calcutta on its hanks. The entrance to the river, about 15 miles wide, is rendered extremely difficult by numerous sandbanks, which are frequently shifting. At Calcutta, the river is about a mile wide, and toward the city the springtides run up with great violence and frequently upset boats and drive .ships from their anchorage. The followers of Brahma consider the Hooghly sacked.
