“PURE FAKE” FOR A FIGHT
JOHNSON v. MORAN. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) ■ [United Press Association.] (Received 10.10 a.m.) London, July 15. “John Bull” publishes a document purporting to be signed by Jack John, son, agreeing to give Moran forty per 'cent, of the receipts, provided Moran lost in eight rounds', Mr McKetrick, Moran’s manager, admits he would willingly promise anything to get Johnson in the ring. All the talk about big money having been put up was “pure fake” for publicity purposes. Johnson provided 3000 dollars for expenses only. He realised he had been tricked when Moran fought in earnest.
