FOREST AND PEAT FIRES.
WHOLESALE DESTRUCTION. [Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 11.13 a.m.) St. Petersburg, July 15. Six hundred houses were burned at Wan koe-N ovgorod. Rain alone will stop the appalling fires raging in the Archangel, Vitebsk, Vologda, Siraolensk, and Yaroslav districts. Troops are fighting great fiorest fires at Krasnoqselo. Eighteen companies of soldiers are engaged in fighting peat fires at Tver. The peat is burning to a depth of seven feet. Reinforcements have been despatched to the various districts.
