JAPANESE NAVY SCANDAL
FINE AND IMPRISONMENT. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Reecived 9 a.m.) Tokio, July 14. In connection with the navy scandal, Pooley was fined £2OO, and sentenced to two years' imprisonment, and Hermann to a year. Hermann's sentence was postponed for three years. Both are appealing. , A cablegram from London on June 14th stated: The Times' Tokio correspondent says that Pooley, under examination, stated that he received from Siemens and Company 50,000 yen. Half of it was intended to cover expenses and hush money for those aware of the circumstances, and half for himself to recompense him for his service in recovering the documents. When these were purchased he was not aware that they were stolen papers.
