CONCERT AT MIDHIRST.
The wind-up conceit organised by a committee of Midhirst ladies, for the purpose of paying off the piano for the Public Hall, took place on Thursday night, and was probably the most successful held in Midhirst. The sum of €2O 9s was collected. Thanks to the number of friends and helpers in Stratford, the expenses are comparatively light, and the committee is now in a position to pay off the balance on the piano, and to devote the remainder of the money for the purchase of some seats for the hall. The committee desire to especially thank Mrs Penn's orchestra, Mr P. Malone and Mr J. IT. Thompson for lending motor cars in conveying friends to the hall, and Miss Huse and Mr Kelly, who supplied (lie dance music. The hall was prettily decorated, and thanks are due to Mrs Hugh Richmond and Mr Fischer, who arranged for the carting of ferns, holly, and evergreens from their farms for use in the decorations. During the evening some excellent musical and vocal selections were rendered by Mrs jC. Massey, the Misses Huse, Savage, .Sheehan, Sullivan, Tocker, Uhlenberg, and Messrs P. Malone, A. Lonergan, \V. 11. Hawkins. .1. H. Thompson. K. Munro and T. Swan. Miss Bohson ably presided at the piano. Mrs P. Hogg kindly acted as secretary to the committee during the whole of the proceedings, and the people of Midhirst have to thank her for her services, which largely contributed to the . auecess of the concert.
