AMUSEMENTS.
BERNARD'S PICTURES. The new series of pictures to-night shows great variety. The star drama, "The Raiders," is a story of the wild Kentucky Mountains, introducing a sensational fight between an illicit whisky gang and the police of the hills. "What the Crystal Told," and "His Last Fight" are dramas of great virility. The plot of the latter rum as follows:—The fighter is a "secondrater" and loses his fight for the championship title. After his defeat, he goes down hill rapidly till he meets the captain of the sloop "Wasp," which is manned by desperadoes. The down-and-out fighter ship 3 with th« captain, and goes to sea with him. A steamer founders, and all hands go down with it except one young couple, who escape in a life-boat. Later they are picked ,up by the "Wasp." The captain takes advantage of the girl's helpless position, after setting her husband to work in the forecastle. The fighter, now a sailor, takes their part, and the young husband and wife manage to escape from the sloop in one of the boats. While they are getting away, their protector fights the captain and fall© dead in the struggle. "The Warwick Cronicle," "Making Bessemer Steel," and a trio of comics headed by "The Uncanny Mr Gumble" make a fine programme.
