The Department of Agriculture received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, July 7, rega-rttfng the opening of the fourth series of colomal wool sa les:—"The wool sales commenced with a large attendance of buyers. There was : a good*demand for all classes/ .especially fine woojs, which are supply. The Americans are bidding freely. Trade is good on the Continent, but the Home trade is quiet. .JUerinos, .fine crossbreds, and all graces of average are $d higher; medium and coarse crossbreds in all grades arc firm at last quotations. Onehundred and seven thousand bales of New Zealand wool were catalogued. NEWTON KINC'S HAYMARKET REPORT. At the Haymarket, Saturday last, I had a fair yarding of pigs, which were offered before a large attendance. There was a good enquiry for all classes, which resulted in a clearance at advanced prices, as'under: Slips and weaners from 12s 6d to 19s 6d, small stores £1 Is 6d to £1 ss, medium stores £1 10s, empty bows £3, ploughs £3 to £5, set harness £5 17s Gd) milk carts from £4 10s to £7, pullets 2s 9d to 35,. hens Is 5<T to 2s 6d, roosters 2s 6d to 3s, ducks 2s 6d, quantity of timber, posts, and farm sundries, meeting good competition.. :; ■-■■.;-.-. .
