TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALES. ME NEWTON KING’S REPORT. On Tuesday, 30th June, I held my four-weekly salp of above produce, tiie catalogue comprising 9 bales and 36 sacks wool, 627 hides, 125 calfskins, 1750 sheepskins, 7 casks and 60 tins tallow, and the usual assortment of horns, bones, hair, tails, etc. There was a good attendance of buyers and competition was very spirited throughout. Wool.—Small offering. Firm at late rates. Sheepskins.—These met with spirited competition, and, showed an advance of Id to Id all round. Hides.—Light hides were at par; heavy hardly maintaining late rates. Farmers’ light advanced Jd to Id per lb. Tallow.—This again showed a decline 10s per ton, owing to oversea reports being unfavorable. Calfskins—Advanced lid to l|d per lb. I quote:—Wool: Fleece in bales BJd to B.ld, in sacks 7fd, lambs Bid to Sid, black 7‘d, dead 6d to Bd, crutchings in bales to 7d, in sacks 63d to 7id, locks 4’(d.
