SPORTING.
A recent issue of the London Financial Times says: "Lloyd's underwriters are chary of admitting how much they have had to pay in respect of the scratching of The Tetrarch for the Derby, but the sum is substantial. A number of policies were issued by the more speculative members of the room, covenanting to pay a total loss if the famous colt failed to turn up at the starting-post. Certain members of the public, however, appear to have been better informed on the matter than were the insurance interests."
