I New York, June 28. 1 The insurance adjusters’ estimate gives the loss at Salem* at ten to twelve million dollars, which is covered, by insurance. Measures have been taken for the relief of the homeless and the poorer classes, mostly foreigners, who have been provided with tents. Over 1 3500 are directly dependent upon' the relief committee, while 4500 waited in the bread lines and received food, which is flowing in, _ r . Although many were injured, only two deaths have been reported. Before the fire had been fairly checked, relief measures and plans for re-build-ing were under way. The Governor announced that tents and 10,000 iations would be shipped to the city immediately. A public meeting lias been called at Boston to take further measures for relief.
