Twelve thousand East-Enders attended a protest meeting at Victoria Park.against the Welsh Disestablishment Bill. The speakers, including the Duke of Devonshire, Lord Robert Cecil and the Bishops of St. Asaph and St. David’s, reiterated the Unionists’ intention to wipe the bill from the statute book.
