An official report dealing with vactination shows that 89.5 of those affected with smallpox were never successfully vaccinated; 5.4 were vaccinated successfully within the incubation period; "5.1 were vaccinated successfully prior to infection, but in no individual instance had successful vaccination been performed less than thirteen years previously. It is estimated that of more than -half a million vaccinated in Sydney not one caught the smallpox.
