The Building Employers’ Federation is balloting on the question of a national lock-out owing to tho London strike. THE BUILDING TRADE. (Received 8.55 a.m.) Sydney, June 24. On appeal by the master builders, the Arbitration Court refused the carpenters’ demand fof a reduction in tho working hours to forty-four weekly. The Court also declined to grant preference. The men employed in the building trades are generally dissatisfied with the award. Meeting have been called to review the position. There is similar dissatisfaction in Melbourne, where a strike is talked of. 800 SUMMONSES ISSUED. At the instance of Mr Estell (Minister of Labor), 800 summonses have been issued against the miners rofusing to work the afternoon shift. They will be called upon to show cause why the penalty of £SO each should not be imposed upon them for participating in a strike.
