Harrison tied with Somers, who was captain of the British team to Australia, but lost in the shoot-off. The Australians netted £IOO, besides medals and cups. TRIANGULAR MATCH. At New Plymouth, on Saturday a match was fired between A Co. (New Plymouth) and H Co. (Eltham) of Territorials, and the New Plymouth Rifle Club. The final scores were: A Co. 717, 1)' Co. 672, Rifle Chib 667. A Co. was two men short, and the Rifle Club one man, their lowest scores being repeated. * LAWN TENNIS. Brookes was in great form at the net, and Wilding brilliant;' 53 Dunlop and Mrs Larcombe boat Wafrt and Miss Tulloch, 6 — 2, 6-6. CRICKET. Sydney, June 20. The cricket team for the South African tour comprises: Armstrong (captain), Bardsley (vice-captain), Baring, Barbour., Carkeek, Campbell (manager), Kelleway, Mayne, Macartney, Ryder, Whitty, Moyes, Andrews, Hazlett. * ' Sydney, June 21. The Board of Control has received a request from Barbadoes that the 1916 Australian 'team play there on their return from England. The secretary of the Board was empowered to obtain data in preparation for an English tour of Australia, commencing in November, 1915. The Board’s English representative has been asked also. London, June 19. Hampshire scored 239 (Sprott 131) against Surrey, who have made, ,378 for seven wickets. Hobbs scored 163, completing 1000 runs for the season. Kent scored 493 against Yorkshire. London, Juhq 21. Kent won by an innings and 149 runs. Surrey made 403, and Hampshire 275. The match was drawn. Middlesex beat Notts by six wickets.
SCULLING. Loudon, June 20. Paddon has invited Barry to agree to the 24th of August for the race. He is rowing twice daily, familiarising himself with the Thames water. His hands are blistered and sore, but his sculling has considedahly improved. Barry has not started training, but is now at Henley coaching Dibble, the Canadian, for the Diamond Sculls. GOLF. THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. ■London, June 19. Taylor and Vardon had > a great struggle in the third round, the former finishing two ahead of Vardon’s aggregate. Jenkins reached third place bj r accurate driving, doing the round in 73. Braid’s' chances were spoilt by bad putting, though he made one fine 25 yards putt. Hilton and Tom Ball did not contest the final rounds. Warden in the fourth round went out in 39 and home in the same manner. Taylor putted poorly. He went out in 44, but took only 30 going homo. The final scores were :—Yardoii 306, Taylor 309, Simpson 310, Mitchell 312, Wilson 313, Ockenden 314, Jenkins 315, and Braid 316. London, Juno 21. In the international foursome at Turnherry, Ayrshire, Duncan and Braid beat Taylor and Vardon, 4 up and 3. ATHLETICS. London, June 21. The King started the Marathon from Windsor to Stamford Bridge for Sporting Life’s £SOO trophy. Fortythree started. Djebelia (France) was first, Westbury (Sweden) second, and Graner (Sweden) third. The Olympic Games Conference has decided to allow women to compete in swimming, yachting, and tennis, and decided to establish an International Amateur Boxing Federation, which will meat in London in 1915.
