The effect of the strike is being keenly felt. The falling off in exports during the past fortnight amounts to 100,000 tons. (Received 9.15 a.m.) London, June 19. The strike of engineers on the coastal tramp steamers is extending, and now affects, Tyneside, South Wales, and some in London. Times and Sydney Sun Services. (Received 8 a.m.) London, June 19. The Times, in a leader, says: Engineers’ work constantly becomes more responsible and arduous. The public would be probably surprised at the rates of remuneration demanded, not because so high, but because they are not higher.
