The Mirdites were thrice repulsed, and finally fled in panic, the insurgents capturing their two guns, which they later used with great effect against the 'Government troops. The retreat caused a panic among Durazzo residents, who took refuge at Consulates and on the seashore, hoping to hoard the warships. As the insurgents did not advance the panic subsided. live hundred British, Austrian, and Italian bluejackets are protecting the palace. It is hoped the Malissori and Mirdites will regain their courage when the Mirdite chief, Prenk Bibdoda, arrives with two thousand reinforcements.
